Rituals of Remembrance: Exploring the Art of Mourning premiered at The New Parkway Theater in Oakland to an SRO crowd on Oct 1st and at Camron Stanford House on Oct 21st. Great discussions after both!

Too Young screened in Women Take Flight Oct 24th as part of Canyon Cinema's 50th anniversary celebration at CCA in San Francisco.   Proud to show with such great films by women!

Penny: Champion of the Marginalized.  Produced and directed by San francisco Bay filmmaker and artist Elizabeth Sher "PENNY" is a documentary biography of celebrated trail attorney Penny Cooper.  In the films 30 minutes Sher provides and outline of Cooper's life and reveals both her struggles and triumphs....Cooper survived and thrived using her intellect, wit, strong sense of humor - and , in my opinion, her spirit...Sher's film is fun, fascinating, and (with) Cooper's sense of humor, thoroughly entertaining.  Don Schwartz

I have been accepted to the Bau Institue in Ortranto, Italy, for an artist residency this coming June.   I look forward to being inspired by the architecture and seaside facing the Adriatic.   Already have a project – stand by!

Starting soon, The Kicktstarter Campaign to fund 1. a DVD with all the stories and cases that had to be left on the cutting room floor, more on her world class collection of art by women and  2. our cross country tour to partner with community organizations, schools, women’s groups, small theaters and more to inspire young women (and men too) to break new ground.   Because hen we have people to look up to in life, we are always more confident the ascent is possible.

Richard Whitaker has posted the conversation, Bella Feldman and Elizabeth Sher at the Berkeley Art Center: Bella Bella, between Bella Feldman and myself at the premiere of my documentary BELLA BELLA at the Berkeley Art Center in 2007. Check it out – still a good read.

BELLA BELLA is screening and Q&A on Saturday, October 19 from 1-3pm, at the Richmond Art Center during Bella Feldman’s retrospective there.  The retrospective will be up from Sept. 14 through Nov. 15. I will also have DVD's of the film for sale.

Gallery talk with Brooke Holve

Brooke Holve and I had an enthusiastic group for our conversation on April 27^th at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts during my exhibiton, Evolutionary Processes.    We talked about my Icelandic residency as the basis for the works as well as our shared and separate experiences there.  (Brooke was at Gullkistan at the same time I was in summer 2012).   The discussion then expanded to the power of residencies for artists.

Upcoming Gallery Talk

Last summer I spent a month at the Gullkistan artist residency in Iceland. I am currently showing work from that experience in my exhibit, Evolutionary Processes, at the Sebastopol Center For the Arts from April 4th through May 10th. I shared the experience with Sonoma County artist, Brooke Holve. On April 27th, 4:30 – 6, we will talk about our shared experiences, the power of residencies and my work and the stories that inspired it.  Come hear more!  It’s free and there will be refreshments!
